Repairing Brown Spots By Moving Chunks of Sod

My wife is planting rose bushes so I’ve moved the sod from where the bushes will go, and used them to fill in brown spots. It’s a great way to fix bad spots in your lawn quickly!

Some people will even designate a section of their lawn for growing sod to use throughout the rest of the lawn. Usually in the back or side where nobody sees. Then whenever you have a brown spot in your prime lawn area you can move some over.

Roundup For Lawns Before & After Review

I was skeptical, for sure, but after trying it and seeing the results this is now my go-to weed killer. It killed everything I sprayed it on. Add in that it has a battery powered handle, bam it’s perfect for spot spraying!

Of course, if you have a large lawn with a large weed infestation you’ll want to use a backpack sprayer or a hose end sprayer. But for spot spraying weed control this is my new favorite. It works fast and is effective.

Preparing for fall lawn care – Will you be seeding, or feeding?

We’re at the decision-making point. This fall, will you be seeding your lawn, or feeding your lawn? You can go either way, in fact, many people overseed every fall. The difference is the supplies you’ll want to source.

For Fall Seeding You’ll Need:
– Grass Seed (I use seedsuperstore.com)
– Starter Fertilizer (Scott’s Starter with Weed Preventer is easiest and has mesotrione which prevents weeds but allows grass)
– Peat Moss (helps with germination)

For Fall Feeding You’ll Need:
– Pre-emergent (I like prodiamine)
– Urea (it’s fast release nitrogen, I get the cheap uncoated kind 46-0-0 and go aggressive. If you are nervous about burning your lawn you could get the Scott’s Winterguard and have enough for 2 applications)

Echo Black Diamond Line Review #BD4ME

Echo was looking for feedback on their Black Diamond trimmer line, so I video taped my reactions to it. Overall I’m actually pleased with the difference. I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to tell but it sure did do a better job.

I typically use Ugly Line but I’m going to be switching over to Black Diamond. Sure, I’ll finish up what I have of the Ugly Line, I won’t throw it away, but when it comes time to buy Black Diamond it is!

Diamond Lawn Stripes – Double Single Variety

This time I’m going for a more pronounced diamond lawn stripe. By doing a single stripe, then a double stripe, and repeating, the diamonds are much more noticeable!

Lawn striping is fun and easy to do. If you are thinking about doing a diamond cut lawn, go for it! It’s easy to fix if you make a mistake, so get out there and start lawn striping 😉

Enjoy Lawn Striping? I got videos on that:

Diagnosing a brown lawn

When you have a brown lawn, it can become disheartening, especially to people just starting to care about lawns. Today I’m going to investigate a lawn with an all too common problem!

The fix for this lawn is simply water. But unfortunately with the temps we have been having it’s likely not to start to green up for a while. Unless you want to spend rediculous money on a water bill, it’s best to just ride it out. It’s hard to get the lawn to naturally come out of dormancy before the cooler weather hits.
