The Ego Lithium-Ion Cordless Lawn Mower was a blast to use! I went with Happy Hippie to make fun of him for buying another electric lawn mower. This one was a step up, at least it was a cordless mower!

But, I will say this, I was shocked that the Ego power plus mower was so powerful. The lawn was super tall, super wet, and it cut it like a champ. I’ve never seen a cordless lawn mower this good!

It’s also extremely light, but packs a punch. If you notice at some point we notice the blades increasing power as the grass gets taller.

While doing a lawn renovation, the sprout and pout stage is the most difficult stage to deal with. Especially with KBG, it can sit for weeks without growing. There is nothing you can do but wait.

I used an excelsior erosion control blanket, also known as a seed germination blanket, to grow grass on the hills and slopes in my lawn. I’ve always had trouble growing grass on these hills because the grass seed would wash away.

So far I’m really happy with the germination blankets, grass is definitely germinating under them and popping up through them which is great!

Selectively killing invasive weeds in the lawn can be a difficult process. Some weeds pulling won’t be enough, and while your new lawn is establishing they can easily take over.

A weed wick or a rope wick can be used to paint glyphosate on the weeds easily. Most of the time they’ll be taller than the good grass so you can just glide over the top.

I’ll do a full review on this particular weed wick once I’ve had time to use it and see how well it works.

There are a few weeds popping up and now I’m just pulling them up with my hands to prevent them from getting large enough to goto seed.

It’s not a foolproof method, if you miss roots some of them will just pop back up, but I’m OK with that. I only have a small area where weeds are popping up.

Raking is the hardest part of any renovation, so using the right rake will be the difference between back pain the next day or a happy smile on your face as you see the nicely raked lawn!

Using Scott’s starter fertilizer with weed preventer or straight up spraying Tenacity as a pre-emergent will prevent weeds from coming up in your lawn renovation. The fun part is what happens to weeds that try to come up!

Today I watched the USS Zumwalt depart from Newport RI. While I was waiting for it to pass by a school stopped by for an unrelated field trip. In the video you can hear some of their reactions as they see it come into view 😉
