Top 5 things you shouldn’t do to your lawn right now.

These are the things that you should not do now…

  1. Do not de-thatch. 95% of all lawns in the northeast don’t have enough thatch to de-thatch in the first place.
  2. Don’t over water this time of year (March thru May-ish) Most lawns will likely have enough soil moisture to keep going for a while into the late spring/early fall.
  3. Don’t not lime. In other words… DO LIME… a lot if you can. Liming at this time of year/or any time of year for that matter is great and is important to keep the lawn at it’s peak shape.
  4. Don’t mow at the lowest setting. It may take another few weeks but always cut at the mowers highest setting. This will help to keep weeds and drought stress to a minimum as the Summer moves in.
  5. Don’t assume that the grass that’s not growing  in bare areas will not come back in. What I mean is that the grass plant is very resilient and it will take a lot for it not to come in over a certain area, especially if it was there last year. Most grasses will tend to “cut back” a bit during the winter to save on it’s own food supply. Once the warm weather hits then you’ll see it start to get healthier and more vibrant.
